Should your skincare routine change with the Seasons?

A good year round routine consists of a cleanser, vitamin C serum, exfoliator, retinol product, moisturizer and sunscreen. These are the basic steps and needs of good skincare routine. All of these should stay consistent throughout the year no matter what season it is.As warmer temperatures and humidity approach us, we may find that our skin may needs a couple of small tweaks.

If you use a gentle or hydrating cleanser during the winter months, you may need to switch to a stronger cleanser like ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Cleanser to help with excess oil. In the winter months and dry air you may have found yourself layering more moisturizing products. With more humidity in the air in spring/summer you may find your skin only needs one vitamin rich moisturizer. It may be tempting to skip on a moisturizer in the summer time but in fact, your skin needs year round moisturization.

We want you to know you don’t need to overhaul your skincare routine each season, but there are a couple small changes you may want to make if your skin needs it.

A friendly reminder to practice good sunscreen habits this spring and summer! Apply a broard spectrum sunscreen every single day. Rain or shine. Staying in the house all day? Still apply that SPF. Remember your 8:00am sunscreen application is no longer effective by 10:00am. Reapplication is very important. This is sometimes not practical after you have applied makeup for the day. Thats why we love Colorescience SPF powder brush. Keep it in your purse or car. If its a pool day, beach day, or lake day reapply your liquid SPF every two hours. Nothing ages us quicker than the suns UV rays.

Vitamin C serums are essential year round like sunscreen but did you know your AM Vitamin C application makes your sunscreen ELEVEN times more effective?! They are quite the protecting duo!

We hope that now your skin is ready for the season change. Good skin days are ahead!
